My recent trip to EdTech Week in NYC provided great inspiration and helps set the stage for the upcoming 14th Canadian EdTech Summit with only 22 Days to go! Speaking of Fireside Chats, one of the most interesting sessions I attended at EdTech Week featured the NYC Schools Deputy Chancellor, Carolyne Quintana on the topic of AI. After an initial district-wide ban, they fully embraced the use of AI and established a research incubator within the district to establish policies around AI. It goes to show that BIG districts can be agile and innovative!

I'm still processing the reported 9% figure quoted by ISTE's research on professors modelling EdTech to prepare future teachers. This will be a topic of discussion at the upcoming EdTech Summit given the digital transformation upon us and the speed of adoption of AI amongst students. Another reason to attend the Summit!

SETDA is excited to release the first follow-up to the annual State EdTech Trends Report, an analysis of feedback from state education and technology leaders through surveys administered in collaboration with Whiteboard Advisors. Whereas last year’s report highlighted states’ preoccupation with the implementation of EdTech fueled by trillions in federal stimulus funds, this year’s report catalogs the ways states are adjusting to a world in which technology is ubiquitous and unavoidable and where new and emerging innovations ike ChatGPT create never-before-seen opportunities and risks for learning.
