13 Days to Go CDNEdTech23 Summit Ottawa! Robert Martellacci in Conversation with Dr. Michael Fullan, Author, Keynoter & Legendary Education Change Leader for a 'Sneak Peek on What to Expect at the Summit!
Bradleygrant@rogers.com

Dear Thought Leader,

Happy Media Literacy Week! Checkout Canada's Media Smarts, a great resource for teachers on topics such as media & digital literacy, digital citizenship and cyber safety, to help future-proof your students.

On that note, with only 10 Days to Go, I'm also pleased to also share our Special Canadian EdTech Summit edition! In less than two weeks, education stakeholders from across North America and Internationally will be gathering at the iconic Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa for the 14th Canadian EdTech Summit. Do have a listen to today's special 'Sneak Peek' podcast featuring, Order of Canada recipient, Dr. Michael Fullan, keynoter and Master of Ceremonies, who reflects on his deep learning journey and how he eventually discovered the potential value of technology as an accelerator.

I'm having a brief flashback to the inaugural EdTech Summit that took place a York University, my alma mater, in partnership with Dr. Ron Owston, Dean Emeritus, Faculty of Education over a decade ago.

The catalyst at the time was the belief that we needed to spark a national conversation to get beyond 'pockets of innovation,' with the hope of making learning more accessible and equitable.'  If you recall, it was the early days of the iPad, twitter was still relatively undiscovered by educators and C21 Canada was yet to be imagined.

Fast forward to today, the complexities of teaching & learning have grown exponentially with EdTech taking on a more mission critical role from LMS platforms, to an array of between 200-600 apps available in some districts and students carrying multiple devices. And, just as schools were getting settled back to a sense of 'normalcy,' post COVID, teachers are thrown yet another curve ball with ChatGPT and Generative AI.

We are by all accounts in the most transformational and pivotal time in education since the arrival of the Internet.

This monumental challenge and more, will be addressed at the upcoming Summit with an eye on 'Empowering Innovative & Sustainable Learning Environments for the Future.'
I challenge you as an education and industry innovator to join our 'World-class' speakers in conversation in Ottawa to envision your future learning ecosystem, where you will connect with other like-minded stakeholders to grapple with the challenges and opportunities to keep Canada at the forefront of innovation in education.

Bonus offer! While Generative AI has great potential for education, schools, colleges and universities require some runway to adapt and make sense of it the Generative AI. We will be releasing the C21 Canada CIO Alliance, Future of AI in K12 Report for attendees at the Summit.

I hope you enjoy this week's Top 10 Featuring Canada's Prime Minister teaching Award Winners and much more!

In closing, we are grateful to you for your support and commitment to honing your craft. Please keep us in mind as we are always looking for newsworthy stories to share around learning & innovation across Canada and beyond.

Until next time, stay healthy, stay safe, and keep the digital learning curve steep, especially during Media Literacy Week!
