The AI Infused Classroom

Ready or not . . . AI is here. Now. And it has concerned and curious educators asking questions:

1. What are the strengths and weaknesses of artificial intelligence (AI) models, like ChatGPT?

2. How do ChatGPT and other large language models change things like the writing process?
3. What do we need to understand about large language models (LLMs) and AI’s ability to transform how—and how quickly—we can communicate with our students and peers?
4. How can we teach students to use AI appropriately and in ways that enhance their learning experiences?

thestar.com, January 17, 2024
Bradleygrant@rogers.com
It’s a sentiment echoed by Robert Martellacci, president of MindShare Learning, a consulting firm that promotes innovation in learning by connecting school boards with tech industry leaders. He says it would be better to teach students about digital citizenship and self-regulation.

“If there's a problem with discipline and appropriate use – then teach it. It's not about taking things away from people, because that's not going to promote innovation,” he said.
