MindShareTV podcast in Conversation with Robert Martellacci and Dr. Nidhi Sachdeva, Educator and Learning Consultant on The Future of Online & Micro Learning
Bradleygrant@rogers.com

Dear MindShare Learning Community Member,

As we usher in the Spring season, it's with great hope that I present to you this week's Canadian EdTech Report Top10, Issue 333. This week, we've curated content that reflects our shared dreams for a future where technology and education blend seamlessly to create unparalleled learning experiences. You will no doubt find a least one item that ignites your curiosity!

I encourage you to to please share this Top10 with a colleague to help us continue our mission and journey of supporting education in getting beyond pockets of innovation and make learning equitable amongst all students across our great country.

This Week on MindShareTV: I had the great pleasure of engaging in an insightful conversation with Dr. Nidhi Sachdeva on her groundbreaking doctoral research. Her shared vision on the future of Micro Learning is fascinating and not to be missed!

Highlight of the Week: The launch of the 16th Canadian Schools of the Future Student Invention Challenge at the Dell Technologies Education Summit. This initiative is a testament to the brilliance and creativity of our young innovators. It’s an open invitation to teachers nationwide: let’s inspire our students to reach for the stars and solve wicked problems aligned with the UN SDGs. With over $1 million in prizes awarded to date, this challenge is more than a competition; it's a launchpad for future change-makers.

GenAI Spotlight: This week, we're thrilled to introduce VideoGen, a tool at the forefront of AI innovation in video creation. Imagine the stories we can tell and the lessons we can share with such powerful technology at our fingertips.

Inspirational Read: "AI and the Future of Education" by Priten Shah is our book of the week. Amidst the swirl of rumors and uncertainties surrounding AI, this book emerges as a beacon of clarity, demonstrating AI's role as a catalyst for educational transformation. I had the pleasure of interviewing Priten on a previous MindShareTV podcast

Our Community's Achievements: From the West Kelowna robotics team’s inspiring journey to the world stage to the innovative solutions emerging from our post-secondary institutions, the stories in this issue are a mirror to the incredible potential within our community.

Upcoming Events and Resources: I encourage you to explore the wealth of professional learning events and resources we've highlighted. These opportunities are gateways to enriching our practices and enhancing our learning environments.

As we continue to forge this path together, your stories, research, and achievements provide the fuel that drives us forward. I invite you to share these with us, adding your unique voice to our collective narrative.

Thank you for being an integral part of this journey. Your dedication, curiosity, and passion are the cornerstone of our community's strength and resilience.

Be sure drop me a note with your inspiring news, research, careers and upcoming events.

As always we are grateful for the growing MindShare Learning community we are nurturing across Canada and many countries beyond. With thanks to you, our board of advisors, partners and team who continue to inspire me on a daily basis!

Until next time, stay healthy, stay safe, and keep the digital learning curve steep!

P.S. This past week I was invited to keynote at St. Rose of Lima during a career exploration day. Connecting with grade 3-8 students was probably one of my most challenging talks ever! I dug deep into my archives to retrieve early school and hockey photos to paint a picture and share my journey as to how I arrived at where I am today. It was not a direct path for sure. I leveraged something I was passionate and skilled (hockey) to achieve my goals in school and my career. Most importantly I encouraged students to discover their passion, dream big and know that life can be hard at times, but hope will help you overcome life challenges. Every student in gym acknowledged they are good at something. We need to continue to nurture those gifts and help all students get through life challenges many are currently experiencing.

AI and the Future of Education:
Teaching in the Age of Artificial
Intelligence

Among teachers, there is a cloud of rumors, confusion, and fear surrounding the rise of artificial intelligence. AI and the Future of Education is a timely response to this general state of panic, showing you that AI is a tool to leverage, not a threat to teaching and learning. By understanding what AI is, what it does, and how it can be used to enhance education, you can let go of anxiety and uncertainty, and learn to embrace artificial intelligence.

It's true that, along with tremendous opportunities, AI presents some challenges for the field of education. In this book, Priten Shah, a Harvard M.Ed. with a robust background in educational innovation, helps you face these challenges head on, so you can gain the knowledge and skills you need to use AI effectively in your classroom.
