Remembering Robert (Bob) Lee, former Director of Education, Peel District School Board and Founder of ERDI Canada. I was saddened to learn from Bob's son Michael of his passing recently. Students at the school were tasked with finding solutions to some practical accessibility solutions as part of a new Durham District Schools Board (DDSB) project — 3D Printing Project: Dream, Design, Deliver — which is aimed at teaching students to use 3D printing technology to address common accessibility issues.

Anjali, Ellen, and Aubry, three exceptional students from St. Andrew Elementary School’s Program for Gifted Learners, secured second place in the renowned Toshiba ExploraVision Awards, a prestigious STEM competition in North America. Their achievement truly reflects their and their educators’ commitment to Deep Learning.

When you think of learning new life skill, video games typically aren’t top of mind as a way to facilitate learning. However across Canada, more and more schools are creating their own eSports teams as a way to get students more engaged, and work on skills such as teamwork, communication and discipline.

Cleland leveraged his skills in electrochemistry and his passion for environmental sustainability to co-found Aqua-Cell Energy Inc., a start-up focused on designing affordable, safe energy storage for commercial and industrial solar power. Cleland's company aims to address the issue of energy storage in the renewable energy industry using low-cost and sustainable materials.

The Nova Scotia government is funding a new fisheries simulator for the NSCC Shelburne Campus which will allow students to practise operating fishing vessels while on land.

The simulator features navigation systems for both fishing and aquaculture, making it the first of its kind in Canada.

Students may soon have a new study buddy to help them prepare for exams, an AI tool named ProfBot.

ProfBot, a new AI-powered chatbot, was developed and tested by Dr. Sean Wise, a professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Northlands College proudly launched the Northlands College Metaverse Campus becoming one of the colleges in Canada to establish a full campus presence in the Metaverse. This achievement heralds a new era of transformational learning tools as we continue to push the boundaries of education and integration of technology across Northern Saskatchewan.
