This Week in Canadian EdTech with Dean Shareski
  Experienced Speaker, Presenter, Teacher Coach and Community Builder on the Future of Professional Learning & Strategic Partnerships

Dear Thought Leader,

Today we honour #PinkShirtDay as we harness the power of technology to spread the word against bullying. Be sure to tag #EdwinClassroom as our friends at Nelson will contribute $1 to Kids Help Phone.

What a difference a year makes. One year ago we were in Whitehorse, Yukon with C21 Canada co-hosting a National Summit of education leaders in partnership with the Yukon Department of Education. Besides the natural beauty of the terrain, it was fascinating to learn about Yukon's commitment to indigenizing education. It had a profound impact on my understanding of the challenges and opportunities for our education systems across Canada to better represent first nations history by indigenizing curriculum as well as EdTech too. Our visit with an elder at Carcross First Nations instilled deep learning and appreciation for their culture, history and importance of storytelling. I vowed to return last summer, then, our world changed. I will go back to the Yukon with my family to explore its beauty, the history and connect with my new friends and colleagues too! Something to look forward to amidst the pandemic.

A few notable highlights in this issue:

1. This Week checkout my 'Unboxing of the World Education Summit' podcast;

2. Recorded Webinar C21 Canada 10th Anniversary CIO Alliance Webinar Series>> Future Proofing Education, providing excellent insight into the evolution of teaching and learning with technology and new forms of learning emerging across Canadian schools;

3. This Week I am excited to support the BIT Conference hosted by ECOO in Ontario, February 26-27. I believe this will mark my 24th year participating in BIT, either as an exhibitor, sponsor, presenter and past committee member. It truly is a 'must do' event for education and EdTech leaders based in Ontario and beyond. Yesterday, I had the honour to podcast with a Canadian legend in learning & innovation, Doug Peterson former ECOO president & BIT Conference Chair, to reflect on the evolution of the learning technology. Tune in here
