This Week in Canadian EdTech MindShareTV Featured Recorded Podcast with Best-Selling Author & Educator, George Couros
A Fascinating Convo on the Impact of the Pandemic, Being a Dad and the Future of Learning through an Innovator's Mindset Lens
Dear Thought Leader,

Hope springs eternal (with caution) this year as we gradually return to some sense of normalcy with our daily lives.

Many thanks for the kind comments I received from last week's 5 lessons for the future of work & learning blog. It truly is our time now to 'seize' the moment and redefine our priorities and the impact we want to make on the lives of people we serve.

Speaking of servant leadership, I was truly honoured to connect with Canada's very own George Couros who was very giving of this time this past week on our featured MindShareTV recorded podcast. It was a fascinating hour-long deep learning dive with George, where he shared his personal transformation, on being a dad, well-being, how he leveraged technology to adapt and redefine himself. We further explore the notion of an 'innovator's mindset' approach to the future of teaching and learning.

On the well-being and innovation front, please checkout our recorded MindShareTV podcast with Dr. Steve Joordens and Dwayne Matthews, where we grappled with Dr. Joorden's  'Great Snap Back' theory.

I hope you enjoy this week's Top 10 curated news stories that really provide a national lens and pulse for some of the incredible innovation happening across our vast Canadian landscape.

Join us this Tuesday afternoon as I'm honoured to be moderating the C21 Canada 10th Anniversary Webinar Series "Task Forces on Future Proofing Education," featuring top names in education: Dr. Alec Couros, Dr. Bonnie Schmidt, Steve Brown and Jeremy Erlick. Click here to register.

We've changed our newsletter distribution schedule to Sunday mornings. Please let me know if you enjoy receiving our report on a Sunday morning rather than during the week?

I am thrilled to share our inaugural Dell Technologies Student-Centered Learning Blog Series featuring the TDSB and Girls Who Game written by Dr. Ron Owston

A special shoutout to our frontline workers, our community members: education leaders, teachers, edtech industry leaders and parents, who have helped keep it all together to sustain work and learning during the most challenging period in modern times. This is what give me great hope, the human spirit that exists within you.

Here's to a happy Sunday and a great week of learning ahead! Until next time, stay healthy, stay safe and keep the learning curve steep!
P.S. Speaking of the human spirit, checkout this heart warming student interview shared by Patricia Gartland, Superintendent, SD43

1. The future of education is not digital technology driven. The future of education is human led, purpose driven and technology augmented (Recorded MindShareTV Podcast)
MindShareTV March 25, 2021
Digital technology is a tool. We don’t start with a hammer. We start with an understanding of the type of house we want to build, and then we go out to get the tools and resources we need to build it. Sometimes we need a hammer, sometimes we need a nail gun or sometimes we just need to 3D print the house, get rid of the formal dinner room and replace it with an outdoor living room because we prefer to eat outside. Digital technology tools augment our ability to get more personalized at scale and reimagine the design of the house. by Dwayne Matthews
