Today marks Education Technology Day! I can't help reflect on my K12 schooling experience vs the classroom of the future today. The slide ruler was leading-edge back in the day and in my final year of high school I bought my first Texas Instruments calculator. Kudos to TI for their ability to pivot and sustain their innovative product offerings. The pandemic has enabled us to discover some amazing EdTech tools that became mission critical. A mandate in Ontario, Canada, requires all school districts in the province to provide a virtual learning option to K–12 students for the 2021-2022 school year. Over the summer, families were asked whether they wanted their students to learn virtually or in person. Many districts sent surveys as late as they reasonably could (while still having enough time to prepare), to ensure that parents had the most up-to-date information when deciding.

5. SD43 Student Science Experiment going to Space, AGAIN!

School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) will be sending a student-designed science experiment to the International Space Station (ISS) as part of the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program.
 
Students of all ages in SD43 have an opportunity to participate in the Student Spaceflight Experiment Program (SSEP) run by the National Center for Earth and Space Science Education (NCESSE).
