This Week in Canadian EdTech with Michael Furdyk, Announcing the CDN EdTech Summit Partnership with ConnectedNorth in Support of Bridging the Digital Divide for Indigenous Students in Remote Communities
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving holiday Monday! I hope you will take the opportunity to enjoy this holiday with your family. My one word that comes to mind today is grateful. During the past 18 months I've gained a real appreciation and respect for the passionate teachers and leaders, like yourself, whose resiliency has enabled our school systems across Canada sustain and grow under the most extreme conditions.

Hence, on this special day, I want to sincerely thank you for contributing to our world-class education systems across Canada that make this country one of the most desirable to live. Yes, we're far from perfect, however, our quality of life and standard of living, can be traced back to your dedication and hard work in helping our future leaders thrive.

Now it's time to look ahead and harness the lessons learned, 'Beyond the Crisis to Future-Proofing Learning,' is the theme of our Upcoming Summit!  Only 17 Days to Go!

It's hard to believe we're hosting our 12th Canadian International EdTech Leadership Summit to which much of this report is devoted to featuring 'world-class' speakers and podcast highlights. And the last weekend to take advantage of the special discount offer.
Teachers and Edleaders, if you register today, it's FREE with the discount Code:MSL50. Thanks to our generous sponsors for making this special offer possible!
Our theme: "Beyond the Crisis to Future Proofing Learning," will provide both global and national insights on successful practices and learnings from the pandemic to make our systems more innovative, agile and resilient in the future.

I hope you will join us to learn and share your experiences in an effort to avoid the 'Great Snapback," a concept coined by Dr. Steve Joordens, UofT, Psychology professor suggested during a MindShareTV podcast, is a very real possibility and quite simply human nature to want to return to the old way of teaching and learning.

We are thrilled to share that this year we are giving back and will be directing all registration proceeds from our Summit to the ConnectedNorth program in support of bridging this digital gap for Indigenous Students.

Our 6th Canadian EdTech Awards were inspired by the Summit. Cast your vote to recognized both education and industry leaders, who went beyond the call of duty to help teachers and students succeed.

I feel extremely fortunate to be amongst some of the brightest minds in the learning & technology that inspires my growth mindset. I truly subscribe to the notion of the smartest person in the room today, is the room. Hence, I feel grateful for the awesome team we have here at MindShare Learning & our Workspace. Our board of advisors both at Mindshare and C21 Canada are among the most passionate and committed leaders who truly want to make a difference in the lives of young people to help all thrive.

This past week I was honoured to be invited to visit and celebrate one of this past year's Schools of the Future Challenge winners, St. David Catholic Elementary School in Sudbury, Ontario. This recently built, state-of-the art designed school honours First Nations history and culture inside and outside the school. Be sure to checkout my blog in this report. It truly ranks as one of the most advanced schools from a design thinking perspective in Canada. I was particularly impressed with the inspirational school design thinking that included an outdoor classroom and a nature learning trail.

A School of the Future Today! MindShare Goes Back on the Road with a Site Visit to Sudbury Catholic Schools to Celebrate St. David Catholic Elementary School, Winner,
Canada's Schools of the Future Challenge
It was a memorable site visit last week to share our generous sponsor prizes and learn with teachers and students at St. David's Catholic Elementary School in Sudbury, Ontario. A wonderful opportunity to connect with teachers, students and leaders to learn about the design thinking of the 5-year-old innovative building. The Indigenous theme infused throughout the school is inspirational as is the outdoor classroom and learning trail--Truly a most deserving winner this past year.

Special thanks to Christina Raso, teacher winner, Dawn Wemigwans, principal; Superintendents Rossella Bagnato and Peter Prochilo for being gracious hosts and to the generous sponosors of the 13th Schools of the Future Challenge for making it possible.
